A consultation forum focused on the construction of a carbon Crediting Mechanism was held.

At the forum, the state Minister of Planning and Development H.E. Mr. Seyoum Mekonnen, announced that the government is carrying out various activities to prevent climate change.
Currently, Ethiopia, which is being greatly affected by climate change, is dealing with disasters such as floods, droughts and other disasters, despite the fact that it has done various preventive measures.
The state Minister of Planning and Development, H.E. Mr. Seyoum Mekonnen, who attended the consultation on the carbon Crediting Mechanism in Ethiopia, said that the issue of climate change is challenging the world and is the most serious.
The state Minister mentioned that the damage is especially severe on the developing countries that do not contribute much to the pollution and Ethiopia is also a victim of the damage.
H.E. Mr. Seyoum mentioned that the Ethiopian government is doing various activities to overcome this problem, such as building a green economy that is resistant to climate change, properly implementing climate policy and planning, focusing on adaptation and adjustment activities, the updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), and starting from achieving long-term low emission levels, climate change is being made one of the pillars of the 10-year national plan.
The state Minister mentioned that the Green Legacy and Lemat terufat projects are the projects that the government has shown its commitment to and also Mr. Seyoum explained that the development of renewable energy is a task in which the country is not only involved in the development of its country but also its neighbors.
H.E. Mr. Seyoum said that climate change has brought an opportunity like carbon Crediting Mechanism to countries like Ethiopia. The carbon Crediting Mechanism was presented and discussed by the World Bank in the forum.
Xiaoping Wang, head of the World Bank's infrastructure program, said the bank would strengthen its support by helping Ethiopia benefit from carbon sales. The consultation involved various stakeholders and a wide discussion was held.
