Planning Ministry Outlines Civil Service Reform Goals at Awareness Forum

The Ministry of Planning and Development convened a discussion forum to promote understanding of its ongoing civil service reform efforts. State Minister for Planning and Development, Honorable Ato Seyoum Mekonnen, emphasized the ministry's commitment to establishing a capable and autonomous institution, empowered by its legal mandate, to better serve the public.

Ato Seyoum highlighted that the Ministry of Planning and Development is a key participant in a federal initiative involving eight ministries focused on institutional reform. He stressed the importance of leadership and employee engagement in implementing service improvements and solutions identified in a comprehensive institutional reform gap analysis and a corresponding roadmap.

"This reform is integral to our national transformation and a continuation of our long-standing institution-building efforts," stated Ato Seyoum. He underscored its significance in achieving broad-based prosperity and noted that initial implementation guidelines and strategies have been established. He urged participants in the awareness-raising sessions to actively contribute the necessary resources for the reform's success.

During the forum, attendees were presented with an institutional change gap analysis covering all ministry units, a roadmap detailing future institutional reforms based on this analysis, and foundational documents outlining the reform's origins and process. Leaders and staff actively engaged in discussions based on these documents, contributing diverse ideas and perspectives.
