The Ministry of Planning and Development discussed with the United States Agency for Development (USAID) on the Statistics Development Program in Ethiopia.
In the discussion, the Ethiopian Demographic Health Survey (EDHS) was presented and discussed in detail.
The State Minister for Planning and Development H.E Dr. Nemera Gebeyu stated in the discussion that since data and statistics is important for the country, many activities have been initiated to conduct censuses in agriculture, housing, demography and other sectors which help to update economic activities of the county. Also H.E mentions that as a starting point, preparations have been started to conduct the Ethiopian demography Health Survey (EDHS), which will help to obtain comprehensive information for various sectors.
The Ethiopian Demographic Health Survey (EDHS) present for the discussion through the Central Statistical Service, about its aim, importance, structure and implementation of the survey, participants, data collection and sampling, as well as time and budget and United States Agency for Development (USAID) declared that it is important and hopeful and promising that they will support it.
The survey will be work in partnership with Ministry of Health, partner institutions and donor organizations, and it is mentioned that there will be a launch program in the presence of ministries, sector offices and donor organizations.
