A significant gathering of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-State Actors convened to galvanize momentum and strategize their crucial contributions towards the upcoming Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS II), scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa from September 8-10, 2025.

H.E. Mr. Seyoum Mekonen, State Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD), officially opened the forum, emphasizing the indispensable role of non-state actors in shaping a successful and impactful ACS II. He underscored that Africa's strength lies not only in its resources but in its collective resolve, urging participants to actively engage and ensure the summit reflects the voices and priorities of all stakeholders.

The forum, co-organized by the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and the Consortium for Climate Change Ethiopia, serves as a pivotal platform to align strategies, enhance collaboration, and amplify the voices of African non-state actors in the lead-up to ACS II. Discussions centered on how these organizations can effectively contribute to the summit's agenda, ensuring that it addresses the urgent climate challenges facing the continent and drives transformative action.

Minister Seyoum called upon all non-state actors and development partners to actively contribute to the successful organization of ACS II through financial and technical support. He also encouraged their participation in showcasing climate efforts at the exhibition and hosting impactful dialogues during the summit.

This crucial gathering highlights the commitment of the Government of Ethiopia and its partners to ensure that ACS II is a truly inclusive and impactful summit, where the vital contributions of Africa's non-state actors are central to shaping the continent's climate future.
