The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Steering Committee held its second meeting at the Ministry of Planning and Development to review the draft of Ethiopia's Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) 2025 report.

The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development, and Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia. The draft 2025 VNR report was presented, followed by an in-depth discussion among the committee members. This crucial consultation follows a preparatory meeting of the Technical Committee, which convened yesterday, May 26, 2025, also at the Ministry of Planning and Development.

These ongoing consultations are an essential component of the VNR development process. The insights gathered from these discussions are invaluable as Ethiopia finalizes the document, which is slated for presentation at the High-Level Political Forum in July 2025. The VNR process underscores Ethiopia's commitment to reporting on its progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
